HR Business Partner Assistant Manager – Brunei

About the role

This hands‑on position gives you full ownership of the HR function for the Brunei operation, working closely with a regional HR team. You will be the primary HR partner for employees and managers, shaping the employee experience and influencing culture across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main HR contact for all staff and managers in Brunei.
• Manage the complete employee lifecycle, from onboarding to off‑boarding.
• Lead local recruitment activities in collaboration with the regional talent acquisition team.
• Ensure compliance with the Brunei Employment Order and advise on statutory requirements.
• Build and maintain relationships with government bodies such as the Labour Department, JobCentre Brunei, and immigration authorities.
• Oversee work‑pass applications, labour‑quota administration, and related documentation.
• Support performance management, employee relations, payroll inputs, and engagement initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of broad HR Generalist or HRBP experience covering the full HR spectrum.
• Strong knowledge of Brunei employment legislation and statutory compliance.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities to handle complex people matters.
• Adaptable mindset with interest in culture transformation and continuous improvement.
• Experience in a regional or matrix environment is a plus.
• Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Required skills

• Understanding of Brunei employment law.
• Experience with recruitment processes and talent acquisition coordination.
• Familiarity with performance management and employee relations practices.
