Project Accountant

About the role

The Project Accountant will be responsible for developing, tracking and reporting project cost budgets throughout the project lifecycle. This role ensures accurate cost allocation, forecasting and compliance with Wood's financial policies and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project cost budgets and forecasts.
• Track actual expenditures, manage cost commitments and produce cost reports.
• Liaise with procurement, finance, time‑capture functions and third parties to capture material, subcontract and labour costs.
• Allocate costs accurately to the approved project WBS and accrue missing incurred costs.
• Manage the work approval process, ensuring first‑time accurate cost allocation and budget set‑up.
• Collaborate with project management and planning teams to align cost and revenue phasing, IFRS16 revenue recognition and forecasting.
• Participate in cost and estimate risk analysis and support internal, external and client audits.
• Execute ad‑hoc financial analyses and ensure compliance with the Financial Management Framework.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a senior cost role.
• Strong commercial knowledge and advanced ability to develop project cost budgets and change estimates.
• Deep understanding of earned value, cost variance analysis, change control and financial implications of planning.
• Demonstrated commitment to Wood values, strong communication skills and a proactive problem‑solving attitude.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with Oracle financial systems.
• Familiarity with Imperium cost‑management software.
